Peoples Official Plan (POP) coalition members were pleased to meet with Debbie Stewart, General Manager in the City of Ottawa’s Strategic Initiatives Department, and Will McDonald, Interim Director of Climate Change and Resiliency Services, on November 6th, 2024.
Ms. Stewart is the first permanent General Manager of the Strategic Initiatives department, which was created in April of this year “to deliver on Council’s highest priorities, including economic development, housing solutions and investments, and climate change and resiliency” (see official announcement). Mr. McDonald has been serving in his role since spring of this year.
POP sought a meeting with Ms. Stewart to discuss the Strategic Initiatives department’s mandate and priorities, and to offer POP’s support in the implementation of these priorities.
We hope this meeting is the first of many, and we look forward to engaging further with Ms. Stewart, Mr. McDonald, and other members of the Strategic Initiatives department as it pursues its work.
